Use a checklist to keep discovery, data, training, and cutover from slipping — especially when excitement outruns preparation.
Before configuration
Define success metrics, map current processes, choose edition for clear reasons, and prioritize phase-one modules. If this is fuzzy, every later debate gets more expensive.
During build
Clean masters, configure products/taxes/accounts, set roles and approvals, and validate critical flows with real users. Configuration without rehearsal is theater.
Before go-live
Train champions, run a pilot, freeze changes, migrate opening balances, and staff hypercare. Cutover is an operations event, not only an IT event.
Keep the list visible
Share the checklist with business owners and your partner. Ambiguity about “who owns data” is how go-lives slip by a month at a time.
