Own the data dictionary
Every source field needs a target, a transform rule, and an owner. “We’ll figure it out in the import” is how go-live weekends turn into go-live months.
Pilot with operators
IT can validate row counts. Only operators can validate whether receiving, picking, or invoicing still makes sense. Put them in the pilot early.
Parallel where risk is high
For finance-critical or high-volume warehouses, a parallel period reduces surprise. Keep it time-boxed so the team does not live in two systems forever.
Protect the timeline
Late “small” customizations are rarely small. Park them in a post-go-live backlog unless they block a legal or safety requirement.
